beekmans studied at the art and design academy in Den Bosch, the Netherlands. She specialised in autonomous ceramic art with Michel Kuipers and Norman Trapman. She also worked with teachers from the monumental art division, such as Jerome Symons. During her study beekmans first specialised in drawing and photography and during her final year she discovered a passion for working with clay.
After graduation she started the foundation Op Visite [‘Visiting’] to promote and organise expositions in unlikely locations. For example artworks composed of light, scent and sound but without a physical presence in empty buildings.
After moving to Delft, the city of ceramics the idea was born to form the ‘Steengoed’ foundation. It is a platform for autonomous ceramics.
Since 2000 beekmans makes ‘kisses’ a special gift made from clay. A beautiful gesture to give away or a kiss to save and cherish. In cooperation with the Royal Porcelain Delft she designed a Delft Blue Kiss.

Foundation Op Visite
Foundation Op Visite organises exhibitions at non-traditional locations.
The goal of the foundation is to find interesting locations and people to visit and to place
art outside the traditional environment of museums or art galleries.
And when you visit you often bring a gift to the host, often flowers or something comparable.
The foundation brings the art of young artists in an accessible manner in locations
where people do not expect art. When possible the artist is present to give an explanation.
